We handed out a pamphlet that I wrote to give people an understanding of why we were there based on Scripture and facts about Todd and Morningstar. These were handed out to people in the congregation and left in bathrooms and other locations. Please take the time to read it, and you will understand many things about Todd, Morningstar, and get a BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE on what is happening in these days we live in.

Because we love you. Because we care about you. Because we desire your well-being and spiritual growth. And above all, because we love God our Father and His Holy Son, Jesus Christ the Lord. And our love for Him compels us to bring His truth to you.

4Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. (Hebrews 13:4 KJV)
Dear brothers and sisters, hear the Word of the Lord above. Adultery is no small thing in God’s sight, and God will judge adulterers no matter how anyone may try to minimize the guilt of this sin. But notice further what God said:

9When I wrote to you before, I told you not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin.
10But I wasn’t talking about unbelievers who indulge in sexual sin, or who are greedy or are swindlers or idol worshipers. You would have to leave this world to avoid people like that.
11What I meant was that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a Christian yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Don’t even eat with such people.
12It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your job to judge those inside the church who are sinning in these ways.
13God will judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say, “You must remove the evil person from among you. (1Cor.5:9-13NLT)

Did you hear what God has said here? Not only does God promise to judge adulterers, but he commands us, the people of God, to judge those in the church who are guilty of this as well. How do we do this? How do we obey God in this? Before we answer it will be helpful for you to see something else from God’s Word.

When the disciples asked our Lord about the signs of His coming and the end of the world, three times He warned us:

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (Matt.24 KJV)

Our Lord Jesus warned us not to be deceived by men. He also said that many would come in His name, but they would be deceivers. He also said many false prophets would come in His name, and that they would even perform signs and wonders, and yet, these men would be deceivers.

The Apostle Peter told us:

1But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach their destructive heresies about God and even turn against their Master who bought them. Theirs will be a swift and terrible end.
2Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of them, Christ and his true way will be slandered.
3In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction is on the way. (2Peter 2:1-3NLT)

Now dear reader and fellow believer, can you name one false prophet alive today?

Can you name one false teacher? Christ and His Apostles said there would be MANY in our midst. So, do you know who they are?
If you cannot, and most Christians today not only cannot, but did not even know there would be so much deception with false prophets and teachers in our midst, the question then becomes why can’t you name any? And then we ought to ask WHY aren’t you being taught what our Lord and His Apostles told us? Is someone trying to HIDE SOMETHING from you? Is someone trying to conceal their true identity by keeping you ignorant of these things? Would not faithful pastors or true prophets warn us like Christ did and expose the wolves in our midst, so the lambs of Christ would not be in danger?

We will come back to answer these questions. But let us go on and ask some other questions. How can it be that there would be so many deceivers in the last days? And how is it that many will be deceived by them? How is this possible? Is there an explanation? Does Christ answer? Thankfully, He does tell us how such a terrible situation will come about... As we return to Matthew 24, our Lord revealed the following:

12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Notice our Lord said INIQUITY shall abound. What is iniquity? It means lawlessness. It is the attitude that refuses to be governed by God and His holy ways. It is the attitude that screams “legalism” and “Pharisee” every time someone brings the truth to them. Nothing annoys a rebel more than a Bible-quoting Christian. Our King said this ungodly attitude of lawlessness would be very prevalent in the last days, and sadly, this is what we see today. And this is how deception and deceivers will have so much success—because lawlessness breeds blindness. It is the price rebels will pay. They will be deceived, and then they will suffer the consequences of their lawless attitude and deeds. They will face eternal damnation, as Christ the Final Judge of all said He would reject all who refuse His Holy Laws. But there is more.

Our Lord mentioned this again. When discussing false prophets. In Matthew 7, He said:

15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16Ye shall know them by their fruits.
21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Notice again our Lord warns of false prophets. He said they look like sheep, they talk and act like them, but inside they are really wolves. And then He tells us that many—did you hear the Lord dear friend? He said that MANY would call Him Lord, and think they were saved because they prophesied in His name, and apparently cast out demons—you know, took part in “spiritual warfare”, and yet what will our Lord say to these MANY SOULS? That He does not know them! That they are workers of iniquity. They are LAWLESS REBELS. Friend, has anyone ever taught you that one can prophecy, cast out demons, and yet be a rebel facing eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire? Has anyone warned you of those in our midst who are like this, and what their lawlessness is? What their deception is? If not, why not? These questions deserve answers, do they not? Will not love warn and expose these dangers, and the deceivers who will destroy Christ’s lambs if they are not taught the truth? Love exposes the darkness-Eph 5:11.

Before we answer, remember that Christ said that the breeding ground for deception, the breeding ground for false prophets to succeed is lawlessness. It is the refusal to be told what to do, even by God’s Holy Word. Are there such people today, deceiving Christians? Yes there are. And this is why we are here, to expose some of them to you and protect you from their lies, and the damage they will do to your soul. Saints, the trick is to say things like “we don’t follow the dead letter, but the Spirit”. Or to say “our critics have a religious spirit”. Neither of these things is found in the Bible! It is a “religious”, but totally deceptive way for people to escape from being exposed by God’s Holy Word, which Paul said is alive and powerful, not dead-Hebrews 4:12. The person who would call the Scriptures a dead letter has something to hide.

So dear saint you owe it to Jesus Christ the Lord, who loved you and shed His precious blood for your sins, to read on and make sure you are not being deceived or lied to. You owe it to the Lord to make sure you are in the faith-2Cor. 13:5, and to test all things and prove what is that which is acceptable to God-Rom 12:1-2, 1Thess 5:18. And understand that both the book of Jude and 2Peter chapter 2-3 shows that adulterers and those who are enslaved to lust and uncleanness will be in the midst of Christians more and more and the return of the Lord is reference and draws near, and that they specifically will be punished for what they do to the body of Christ.

Todd Bentley sometime before the Lakeland “revival”

Todd Bentley during the Lakeland “revival”. Todd was
clearly in bad spiritual shape leading up to the “revival”.

Friends, surely you know by now that this man, while claiming to have all kinds of visits to heaven, all kinds of visions and dreams, all kinds of miracles, and all kinds of angels talking to him, and while claiming to lead a revival in 2008 in Lakeland Florida where supposedly all kinds of miracles took place, that this man was getting drunk, watching filth on television, and committing adultery against his wife. He was also telling lies about the supposed miracles and how there was all this confirmation. He claimed that dozens of people were raised from the dead, and that he could prove it, and yet when the secular News Media came looking for proof, he had none, and worse still, they caught him in lies.

Then the truth came out that many had warned of during the Lakeland “revival”—that Todd was a liar and deceiver.
Todd has never repented. He never uses the word adultery in any written or video communication that Morningstar has produced about his “restoration”. Why won’t he name his sin? Because he knows that if he does, then there is no way to lie and whitewash his actions. Then his decision to divorce his wife for Jessa becomes CLEAR—he is guilty of adultery, and his divorce and remarriage is absolute rebellion to God. Saints, so many lies and deceptions have taken place that it would fill a book to tell it all. But of the many things we could speak of, we will narrow this down to the Great Transgression that Todd Bentley is engaging in, while Rick Joyner tries to make it appear fine with the Lord that Todd is in total rebellion still. Rick Joyner is helping Todd to damn his own soul. Rick Joyner, because he and Todd both are LAWLESS, as Christ warned, are in danger of hell-fire and of corrupting those under their influence.

The foundational issue is that Todd Bentley, with Rick Joyner’s help, has totally trampled under foot the marriage covenant, and lied to God’s people in a number of ways to justify it. False prophets help other false prophets do evil. Please read Jeremiah 23. It describes exactly what is going on today. History repeats itself, as Christ our Lord said it does. Notice what the Lord said in Jeremiah 23:

14But now I see that the prophets of Jerusalem are even worse! They commit adultery, and they love dishonesty. They encourage those who are doing evil instead of turning them away from their sins. These prophets are as wicked as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah once were.”

And here we see exactly what is happening with Rick Joyner and Todd Bentley. Instead of getting Todd to turn away from his lust and adultery, Rick Joyner has allowed Todd to go further and divorce his innocent wife to “marry” his young intern—and so continue in adultery.

Marriage is the first and most wonderful institution that God created in paradise. It is holy and sacred before God and man. It was created to be a blessing to us, and to one day reflect the love and relationship Christ has with His church, his bride-Eph 5:22-33.

The Devil has attacked the institution of marriage, because he knows, if he can destroy the family in the church, then the church will be weak and ineffective. Churches are mostly composed of families. If the Devil destroys the family, he cripples the church.

The Bible clearly teaches that what Todd Bentley has done is unlawful and evil. He has no right to divorce his wife Shonnah. She has been faithful to him, and the only way Todd could ever remarry is if, God forbid, she were to die. The wedding vows are “till death do we part”. See Rom 7:1-4.
Now there are some who believe that all divorce and remarriage is wrong, while others believe the Bible teaches the innocent party may lawfully divorce an adulterer or one who has abandoned them with no intention of coming back. Either way, both sides agree that Todd Bentley is in total rebellion to God and His word. Notice what Christ said:

9And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. (Matthew 19:9)
There is nothing unclear about what Christ said. Todd has divorced his wife, and it is not because she has been unfaithful, therefore Todd is committing adultery by marrying Jessa Hasbrook. There is no such thing as divorce for “irreconcilable differences” or “marital friction” or any other lying excuse. Problems exist because people are often selfish and carnal. The cure is not divorce, but humility and death to self, as our Lord commanded.

Todd’s problem is not Shonnah, it is not a “problem marriage”, it is LUST. Todd is a lustful, immoral, worldly, sinful, drunkard and liar. He has indulged in the flesh in many ways, he has fed on the evil things of this world like heavy metal music, evil movies, drinking, professional wrestling with its sex and violence and mockery of God. He refused to study the Scriptures and obey Christ, who said we must deny ourselves, take up our cross, die daily and follow him. If we refuse, we cannot be His disciples, and we will not bear good fruit, but evil.

In Todd’s book Journey Into The Miraculous, he said this about his wife Shonnah:
“…the Lord had actually shown me an open vision of Shonnah. It was my first open-eyed vision. I was in my living room and my fireplace opened up, kind of like a TV screen, and I saw us embracing in a wheat field that was ready for harvest. We were both weeping and I was wearing a tux and she was wearing a wedding dress. As the vision unfolded, her friend Roswetta (who was now my friend) was talking with me in the living room about Shonnah. I described the open vision to her as it happened. The presence of the Lord fell and we both wept. Roswetta said, ‘I can’t see it but I can feel goose bumps.’ During this vision, I also received an anointing of creativity, poetry and writing. In fact, I even received a three-page prophetic poem that I read at our wedding. I still write prophetic poems for my wife to this day.”
So what happened? Was Todd lying about this vision? If he was, then how can anyone believe anything he says now? But if God DID show him that Shonnah is to be his wife, then how dare Todd divorce her??? How dare Todd commit adultery against her? The answer is because Todd Bentley is a liar and enslaved to LUST. Notice what Rick Joyner said:

Todd has taken full responsibility for the failure of his marriage. He and Jessa also admit that their relationship was premature and should not have happened the way it did. Both are adamant that it was not the cause for the failure of his first marriage, nor did they begin their relationship until Todd was convinced that his marriage was over. They have both expressed that it was wrong and premature

Premature? Is this some kind of joke? Todd is married to Shonnah! Since when is sinning with another woman appropriate? When the time is right? So according to Todd, adultery is only wrong if you do it at the wrong time! But we know that this is sin and rebellion to God. And this kind of talk is utterly deceitful and what one expects only from lying politicians when they are caught in their scandals and lies. We do not expect these kinds of tactics from men professing to know God and be His ministers. The fact that Todd LIES LIKE THIS AND EXCUSES HIS BETRAYAL OF GOD AND SHONNAH is because he is not a man of God, nor a minister of God. During the “revival” in Lakeland, this man was getting drunk, watching bloody slasher flicks, lying about so-called “documented miracles and healings”, and sinning with Jessa.

And further, he claims that he did not begin this “premature” relationship with Jessa(adultery) until July of 2008 and after filing for divorce. But Charisma magazine’s Richard Ricciardelli researched Todd, the “revival” and spoke with his ministry team and leaders who were supposedly overseeing Todd, and he said that the truth is that this affair began in January of 2008, long before he filed for divorce and “decided” his marriage was over. The way it really happened is that Todd fell into sin with Jessa before the Lakeland “revival”, and continued in sin with her during it, and then decided to divorce his wife so he could marry her instead. He has been lying about this the whole time. When two of his staff members confronted him about this in January of 2008, they were fired.

And further, it was claimed by Peter Wagner, the head of Revival Alliance, that Todd had cheated on his wife once before with another intern. His words are found here:

Further, Wagner reveals that Bentley’s staff covered up his sin and were sworn to secrecy. Wagner also said there are other things that happened, that he chose not to reveal at that time, but another source at the above link indicated that this is the FOURTH TIME Todd has committed adultery on his wife.

To show how phony this man is, did you know that during the Lakeland “revival”, Todd brought Shonnah and his children up on stage, and claims to have a family-man anointing to heal marriages! See here:

Can you believe the nerve of this man! What rank hypocrisy. What sad proof of a man with no fear of God whatsoever! The man has made a mockery of marriage, the ministry, his wife and children, God, Jesus Christ and now he is set to do it all again with the diabolical help of Rick Joyner. These men have no shame.

Dear Christian, do you know of ANY man in the history of revival, who while in revival, was later exposed as living in sin and wickedness like Todd Bentley??? Dear saint, THERE IS NO SUCH CASE IN THE HISTORY OF REVIVALS IN ENGLAND AND AMERICA. You can go through the list of men, whether it is, Whitefield, Edwards, Wesley, Finney, Spurgeon, Moody, Torrey, Earle, Booth and the like. All these were truly men of integrity, they lived holy lives, they were dead to sin and alive to righteousness, and they glorified God with their lives, unlike Todd Bentley, who has dishonored God and continues to do so.

Todd made vows to God and his wife Shonnah when they were married. He is expected to keep them, and we should hold him to his vows. If we do not, then we are promoting rebellion and lawlessness. A man of God, especially a minister MUST HAVE INTEGRITY. Todd Bentley has proven he has none whatsoever. He has broken every trust, violated every promise he has made to God and those around him. He has deeply wounded his wife and children, and he has deeply wounded the name and cause of Christ with his lies, lust and excuses. And Rick Joyner is helping him do it, exactly as God told Jeremiah the false prophets of his day were strengthening evil-doers in their sin, and the one mentioned by God over and over is ADULTERY.

If Rick Joyner was a true man of God he would have said “Todd, the only restoration available to you, and for which you should be totally grateful for is to God and your wife. Be grateful the Lord does not damn your soul right now. Repent to God and to all the world, before whom you lied and disgraced the Name of Jesus Christ. Then you will repent to your wife and children, and you will humble yourself and be restored to your wife and family. Be grateful Todd, that these options are available to you. If you will not submit to this counsel, then you will be rebuked and publicly exposed for the rebel you are”.

But Rick Joyner didn’t do this. Instead Rick has joined in the deception and lies, putting out over 20 videos about the phony “restoration” of Todd Bentley. These videos are unbiblical. Friend understand, these men TWIST THE SCRIPTURES to suit their sin. The Apostle Peter warned of those who twist the Scriptures to their own destruction, and then he warns us to beware of them lest we fall into their error and lose out with God(2Peter 3:14-18).

Rick Joyner had the BLASPHEMOUS NERVE to say that even God got a divorce! Unbelievable. The man does not fear God. For him to compare Todd Bentley to God is outrageous! God was innocent always, and Israel continuously betrayed him and committed adultery against Him by serving other gods. The Lord finally divorced her, and rightly so. Todd Bentley has been cheating on his wife, and is like unfaithful Israel. But Rick Joyner, in his dark, sinister mind thinks he can bring up that God got a divorce as a justification for Todd Bentley to continue in adultery and get a divorce??? Truly Jeremiah 23 describes these wicked men.

It is clear that these men don’t care how low they go. They will impugn the holy character and integrity of Almighty God to justify their sin! They are insane. They will lie for as long as they have to until the church just accepts what they are doing. They are quite determined to simply wait-out all objections and objectors and then go on with their madness.

Proof that Todd has not repented, therefore cannot be restored to anything is that he refused to go back to his wife. If he had truly repented to God, he would be broken over his adultery, and would go back to his wife should she be willing, and Shonnah was willing. But Todd, because he is a slave to lust and a liar has instead hardened his heart. Therefore he cannot be restored to anything.
Rick Joyner PRETENDS to be restoring Todd Bentley. But Rick Joyner assumes that “restoration” means Todd can go back to ministry. He quotes Galatians 6:1, which says:

1Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Not so fast Rick. Notice that Joyner wants to load up that term “restore” far beyond what Paul meant. Paul was speaking of retrieving a brother who suddenly was overtaken and surprised by the power of temptation, and so fell into some kind of sin, and was distressed about it. Any good commentary brings this out, and it is clear in the Greek language that this was falling into unintentional sin. Rick’s goal is to have Todd “restored” to doing and being just like he was before. He twists Gal 6:1, which only speaks about getting someone restored to God if they are in sin or error. It says nothing about restoring someone to “ministry”.

Paul did speak about those who could be leaders in the church. Paul spent an entire chapter, 1Timothy chapter three on this issue. A leader must be qualified and meet standards laid down by God himself. If you read the chapter, you see that a minister must be above reproach, blameless, he must have a good testimony with the saved and the unsaved, and he must demonstrate to have been a godly father and husband, whose family life is in order. Todd Bentley never has met these qualifications, but now he is utterly disqualified. He can be restored to God, and to his family, but to the limelight of “ministry”, there is no such possibility.

What this man needs to do is serve humbly, quietly, in obscurity at a local church, content with whatever the leaders would let him do. But to be behind the pulpit, to have conferences where he is the show, the man, like he and Rick are trying to make happen, is sheer rebellion and an utter farce. The man has no credibility with the church or the world, because he chose sin over God, he chose lust over ministry, he chose adultery over his wife and family, and the Lord’s commandment is that those who do such are to live with the consequences of their decisions. Todd made his bed, and now he is to lay in it. He cannot have the ministry and be in disgrace. He cannot have the ministry with rebellion and sin. He cannot have the ministry while still lying. And he cannot have the ministry with his mistress pretending to be his new wife.

For those that would dare bring up King David, Todd Bentley is nothing like David. But let it be known, David could not be a New Testament leader, for the requirements are much higher in the New Covenant. God did not even allow David to build him the temple, for he called David a “man of blood”. But David did suffer SEVERE CONSEQUENCES on account of his sin, something that neither Todd nor Rick wish to speak of. Todd wants no consequences to the sin and scandal he has created, and the lies he still wishes to perpetuate. Not this time saints, not this time! God chose David and He chose Saul. Saul did lose the kingdom and he was removed by God and replaced. Joyner acts as if there is nothing anyone can do to lose their place, yet King Saul surely did. To Saul it was said that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness and iniquity like idolatry(1Sam. 15:23). Rick and Todd are like Saul, and are committing the sins of Saul. Truly this is witchcraft and idolatry. God has said no rebel, and no idolater shall inherit the Kingdom of God-1Cor. 6:9, Gal 5:19-21.

Lastly, the mentors of Todd Bentley and Rick Joyner have been Bob Jones and Paul Cain. Both of these men are proven false prophets. Both have taught heresy and New Age type errors and experiences. Both of these men have been involved in sexual sin and scandal, Jones with other women and Cain in homosexuality and drunkenness. These are the mentors of Rick Joyner and Todd Bentley! Todd Bentley had both of them speak at Lakeland and prophesy things that did not come to pass, as usual. Paul Cain said he has lived a celibate life! He lied, and that same week, Cain had a stroke and ended up in the hospital. When Bill Johnson came to Morningstar to “stand with Rick and Todd”, he went back to California and ended up in the hospital with a mysterious health issue. Saints, God is speaking! Judgment has begun at the house of God, and yet these men still persist to lie and deceive.

The following Scriptures make it clear that false prophets, lying, adultery, homosexuality and lawlessness go together-Jeremiah 23, 2Peter 2, Jude, Revelation 2: 18-26.

Where you find lying, adulterating, drunken, Sodomite “ministers”, rest assured, according to God Holy Word, you are dealing with FALSE PRLOPHETS.

One night during the Lakeland “revival”, Todd said the Lord told him there were a thousand people there who were to give $1000. He spent and ENTIRE HOUR trying to convince the crowd of this and get that money.

When confronted by a minister and the host church pastor about this later, Todd admitted God didn’t tell him this, but Todd thought it was a good idea to raise money to build a big building! He lied to thousands of people in attendance and those watching on God-TV, and he did it just like that.

But there were also lying prophets among the people then, just as there will be lying religious teachers among you. They’ll smuggle in destructive divisions, pitting you against each other—biting the hand of the One who gave them a chance to have their lives back! They’ve put themselves on a fast downhill slide to destruction, but not before they recruit a crowd of mixed-up followers who can’t tell right from wrong.

They give the way of truth a bad name. They’re only out for themselves. They’ll say anything, anything, that sounds good to exploit you. They won’t, of course, get by with it. They’ll come to a bad end, for God has never just stood by and let that kind of thing go on.

God is especially incensed against these “teachers” who live by lust, addicted to a filthy existence. They despise interference from true authority, preferring to indulge in self-rule. Insolent egotists, they don’t hesitate to speak evil against the most splendid of creatures. Even angels, their superiors in every way, wouldn’t think of throwing their weight around like that, trying to slander others before God.

These people are nothing but brute beasts, born in the wild, predators on the prowl. In the very act of bringing down others with their ignorant blasphemies, they themselves will be brought down, losers in the end. Their evil will boomerang on them. They’re so despicable and addicted to pleasure that they indulge in wild parties, carousing in broad daylight. They’re obsessed with adultery, compulsive in sin, seducing every vulnerable soul they come upon. Their specialty is greed, and they’re experts at it. Dead souls! (2Peter 2:1-3, 10-14NLT)

  1. Glory to the Holy Father for what He is doing! Thank you for being so bold and know that you shall see fruit increase unto your ministry from the Holy Father for your boldness to stand up. Good work. ...

  2. Thank you for posting this. I started confronting Todd in the Lakeland days and I see he is back to his old tricks.

I have added a link to your site over at my blog as I believe this is an important that Todd Wishes would go away

  3. One thing is for sure, we are to forgive Todd Bentley, Jessa and Rick Joyner for the sins they have committed against the Lord and the body of Christ. We ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. YET, we do not agree with or condone Todd Bentley being free to minister at this time. We are all for him repenting and getting pure reconciliation to the Lord. We must flee youthful lusts (2 Tim 2:22), abstain from even the appearance of evil (1 Thes 5:22), be a vessel fit for honor (1 Thes 4:4 & 2 Tim), Eph Ch 2 & 4, 2 Pet, Gal 5, 1 John 2, Titus 2, Rom Ch 6 & 13 ...... It is important that we consider ourselves lest we fall... 1 Cor 10:11-12.....

  5. Martin,
I'm truly amazed and baffled by people who claim christianity and still embrace the sexually immoral. Not only embrace them, but defend them within the church under the guise of "grace and forgiveness". This of course would be the case if Todd fell into the sin of adultery and when confronted, repented by asking for forgiveness from God, his wife and family and the church he deceived. The fruit of that repentance would have been working on his marriage to restore it, controlling his obviously lustful desires for other woman, and humbling himself before God. That would be true repentance. Not a quickie divorce and remarriage to the woman he was cheating with. We are to "flee" sexual immorality and NOT associate with those in the church who choose it. Todd is currently living in adultery. His marriage is not a marriage in the eyes of God who calls such a marriage as this "adultery." Jessa Hasbrook is living with another woman's husband according to the Word of God. He may be married to Jessa Hasbrook in this world according to a piece of paper, but God sees it differently. You cannot use a legal document to cover a moral failure. And while we all have moral failures in our lives that God forgives, most true christians know that legalizing your moral failure will not fool God into thinking your sin is no longer sin. And....apparently now, since he is back to ministering, he will now lead others down the same wide path that he himself and the secular world condones. The bleeding of divorce needs to stop. The ripping apart of the one-flesh union of covenant marriage needs to stop. The ripping away of children from their mothers and fathers needs to stop. The church needs to quit desiring worldly ways and start desiring God's ways...or we are ALL headed to hell.

What these men did to confront and rebuke Todd was biblical. What Todd is doing is not.

  6. Michele...
All you know is face value facts... You don't know the intricacies of Todd and Shonna's Marriage. And neither do I...
I'm not in any way defending Todd's behavior. He screwed up his marriage. He threw it away.
They tried to put them through restorative counseling, and it didn't work. It wasn't just Todd... Shonna didn't want to get back together with Todd either.
And regardless of whether you think he's a lying adulterer, or a weak man, who just lost his family and made a stupid choice; (You don't know the man's heart) He is where he's at now. He's entered into a marriage covenant with Jessa. Not advised to do this.... His mistake. Now his wife. There is no restoration of his previous marriage.

I know we feel in the church we're too often the victim, of a preacher who sins and then says... "I'm sorry. But what's done is done now."

But that is the case... And Todd has publicly repented on several occasions. But what do you want him to say with Jessa standing next to him on that stage, whom he's promised to love the rest of his life. You want him to divorce again? Are you really that dense? The man is between a rock and a hard place... and realizes he put himself there. He's genuinely sorry, and just wants to do what he's always done... serve God again and minister to people. He's lost a ton of influence because of his actions, but dear God!... where is the mercy from the body of Christ? You can't quote one verse, follow it to the tee, and then throw another out of the same book.

"If any man is caught in any sin... You who are spiritual restore him in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted."

I'm not defending Todd's decisions, neither am I the biggest fan of his ministry. I'm not a fan at all. But you people are ridiculous. You have no concept of God's heart for people. Jesus did not come only merely to save us from our sins... He came to save us from the consequences of them.

You're more interested in saving people from an action that will send them to an eternal consequence. Jesus did that already.
He came to give us life. Abundant Life. His desire is for us to be a flavor in the earth. A salt to people. And if that salt becomes tasteless it's good for nothing.

  11. I removed most of the comments by "Martin", and my responses to him, seeing they simply derail the point of this blog. Anonymous personal attacks do not address the issues involved. If "Martin" has anything of Scriptural substance to say, he can. But if all he can do is engage in personal attacks, they will be deleted.

  12. Unless posts contain blasphemy or profanity, it upsets me that you do not allow another points of view to be expressed simply because it is contrary to yours. reading your article I found more personal attacks made by you than by "Martin". What happended to your original mission of saving babies...I used to support this ministry but find that I can no longer do so. Judgement WILL begin in the house of the Lord and you, sir, will not be exempt anymore than the rest of us.

  13. The adultery apologists never cease to amaze me with the scriptural gymnastics they engage in to downplay this issue, at least according to scripture. According to someone named Jesus Christ:

"But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery." Matthew 5:32

"And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery." Matthew 19:19

"And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her." Mark 10:11

"Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from [her] husband committeth adultery." Luke 16:18

That someone will downplay the words of Jesus is nothing short of tragic. But 'what's done is done'.

I'll remember that if I ever get the Seven Year Itch and find someone I want to sleep with beside my wife. Just divorce her and repent and ask for forgiveness after the fact.

If that's acceptable to God for preachers, then that's acceptable for me.

  14. Well said R

But don't forget to cover up your sin with a legal contract. Then you have back God into a corner and His hands are tied. Nothing He can do but accept and bless the adulterous union that destroyed a covenant marriage and family. Now your adultery, (although not turned away from) has now become "un-sin"....even though you're still doing it. Amazing. It's a bit tricky, but still works according to many worldly christians today.

You have now successfully tricked God with legalities.

And besides, God only wants us to be HAPPY! :)

  15. Julie, I do allow other points of view. What I won't allow are personal attacks that have no basis in reality as a form of debating what we did and what I wrote. Calling me names does not disprove what we did or our explanation for why we went. Martin cannot refute what we did Scripturally, nor can he refute the fact that Todd has been caught in many lies, which I others have documented. Google Ad Hominem, and you will understand what Martin was doing.

For example, if I prove from the Bible that something Rick Joyner wrote is seriously wrong and unBiblical, and Rick responds with "well you are a Pharisee", how is that answering the points made against his doctrinal ideas? You see, it isn't, but it is a convenient method of NOT ANSWERING a rebuke and instead changing the subject and making the issue the person bringing the charge rather than the charge itself. It is dishonest on a number of levels, and that is what Martin was doing.

  16. Michele,

You're right. All in all, this is an inspiration to me that I can ignore the scripture when it's contrary to 'my personal happiness'. A marriage vow made before God is not binding, apparently to that group who thinks 'restoration' is a cover-all for anything, even scripture, that would prevent our flesh from having its way in our lives.

Thank goodness for his supporters. Now I can, under the cover of 'restoration' and not being a 'pharisee', justify anything I want. I'll remember that if I find someone more attractive and desirable than my wife.

What these adultery apologists need to realize is that if they have a problem with the scripture, then they need to take it to the One who wrote it. Calling others names merely because they are trying to live by the scripture (and I am no better than any of the adultery apologists) is an attack, indirect as it is, against the scripture. And ultimately against the Almighty who authored it. I fear that such attitudes will lead to a far different eternal outcome than what they expect.

  17. I think you guys miss the whole thing, his spititual sin is far worse than anything else he does.
